What is laser Hair removal?

Laser Hair Removal is a medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light (laser) to remove unwanted hair. At Sheryne Skin, we use GentleMax Pro®, which has ben designed with all skins in mind. The laser combines 755 nm Alexandrite laser with the 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser allowing it to be used safely and comfortably on all skin types whilst ensuring maximum results. 

The GentleMax Pro® laser provides up to 80% permanent hair reduction after three just three treatments and features a unique dynamic cooling device that helps to calm, soothe and protect the skin. 

How does Laser Hair removal work?

The Gentle Pro Series lasers work by selectively targeting a specific chromophore (colour). This could be the melanin in a hair follicle or pigmented lesion. The laser light is absorbed into the target and heats that target to a high enough temperature to destroy it without damaging the surrounding tissue. The Dynamic Cooling Device allows for a more comfortable experience and can be adjusted. 

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal 

Shaving may be the speediest option when you’re on the go, but that smooth feeling is short-lived since the hair is only cut off at the surface. Plus, replacing those razor heads (recommended times: at least once a week) ends up being more costly than we realise.

While waxing offers longer-lasting results as it involves the removal of the entire hair follicle from the root, the downside is that hair needs to be grown out to at least an inch before each session.

Currently, laser hair removal is the most popular option on the market and it’s pretty clear why. After all, laser hair removal is less painful than waxing, gives long-lasting, visible results AND you can continue shaving throughout the whole process. Will Laser Hair removal work on my skin?

The Gentle Pro Series lasers work on all skin types and hair types except white hairs. 

How many sessions will I need?

Patience is a virtue. Laser Hair reduction requires around six to 10 sessions at first, depending on your hair and skin type. This is to ensure that all hair follicles are properly treated. Sessions are approximately six weeks apart, with each lasting as little as five to 10 minutes. 

Laser hair removal significantly decreases hair growth. Once your initial six to 10 sessions are complete, you’re good to go! Top-up treatments once or twice a year are recommended to maintain longevity, so getting summer-ready early really does pay off.
